Dear
Dharma Friends, Re:
Plant a Tree, Save the Earth We
are writing this letter to seek your helping hands to plant 100 flowering trees
in the western slope on our monastery. The reason for this project is that the
maple trees on the slope have reached their maturity and their center branches
are withering. We will hire a landscaper to remove the trees and clear away the
tree stumps. We will plant Chinese plum trees, cherry trees, jujube trees,
persimmon trees, peach trees, apple trees, apricot trees, plum trees, Asian
pears, and gingko trees. We
sincerely invite you to plant a tree for your parents, your family members, or
for yourself. It is a gift to the earth, marking our good wishes and our
gratitude for her supporting us. Near each tree, a memorial plate will
recognize the donors’ names. We wish that you and your loved ones will grow
together with the trees. The
cost for each tree (including delivering, removal of the withering maple trees,
clearing the tree stumps, planting the new tree, and a memorial plate) is
US$250. On our world Peace Day, June 15, 2013, we will have a tree planting
ceremony symbolizing peace with the earth. We sincerely invite you and your
family to join us. Yours
in the Dharma, Buddhku
